Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 2026. This policy explains how the Block Website Chrome extension handles website URLs, settings, and privacy choices.

1. Information We Collect

Block Website is built to help you block website distractions in Chrome. The extension may store the URLs, keywords, schedules, and preferences you add so that blocking rules work as expected.

We do not require an account for the basic extension experience. If future versions add optional sync, support, or analytics, those features will be described before they are used.

2. How the Extension Uses Website URLs

The extension checks the web address of a page against your block list. This allows Block Website to block website access when a URL matches a rule you created.

URL checks are used for blocking behavior, schedule enforcement, and block page display. They are not used to sell personal data.

3. Local Storage and Extension Settings

Your block list, keywords, schedule choices, and extension settings may be stored locally in your browser using Chrome extension storage. This helps the extension remember how you want to block website distractions between sessions.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your block list with advertisers. If a third-party service is added later for diagnostics, payments, or account sync, this policy will be updated to identify that service and its purpose.

5. Analytics and Diagnostics

The current policy is written for a privacy-first extension experience. If anonymous diagnostics are introduced, they should be limited to improving reliability and should not include the content of pages you visit.

6. User Control and Data Removal

You can edit or delete blocked URLs and settings from the extension interface. You can also remove stored extension data by uninstalling the extension from Chrome or clearing extension storage through browser controls.

7. Chrome Permissions

The extension may request permissions needed to read active URLs, apply block rules, display replacement pages, and save your settings. Permissions should be limited to what the block website feature requires.

8. Children's Privacy

Block Website is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through a future feature, contact us so the information can be reviewed and removed where appropriate.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy as the extension changes. The updated date at the top of the page will reflect the latest revision.

10. Contact

For privacy questions about Block Website, contact the extension developer through the support channel listed in the Chrome Web Store listing.
